Summary
Psalms is a collection of 150 songs and prayers arranged in five books. They include hymns of praise, laments in times of trouble, prayers of confession, songs of thanksgiving, wisdom psalms and royal psalms that look forward to God's anointed King.
The psalms teach God's people how to bring every emotion to the Lord โ joy, fear, anger, grief and hope โ and they move steadily toward praise. Jesus and the apostles quoted them often, and they remain the prayer book of the church.
