Summary
Mark is the shortest and most fast-paced Gospel, often using the word "immediately." It moves quickly through Jesus' baptism, his authority over illness, demons and nature, and his teaching about the kingdom of God.
At the midpoint Peter confesses Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus begins to explain that he must suffer, die and rise again. Nearly a third of the book is devoted to his final week. Mark shows that true greatness is found in serving: "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve."
