Summary

Obadiah, the shortest book of the Old Testament, announces judgment on Edom, the nation descended from Esau. When Jerusalem fell, Edom gloated and even helped the invaders.

Obadiah declares that Edom's pride will bring its downfall: "As you have done, it will be done to you." In contrast, God will restore his people, and the book closes with the triumphant words, "The kingdom will be the Lord's."
