16ですから、私たちは決して落胆しません。肉体はしだいに衰えますが、うちにある力は日ごとに強くなっていきます。 17今の私たちの苦しみや悩みは、結局のところ、取るに足りないものであり、それほど長くは続きません。そして、このつかの間の苦しみは、永遠に尽きない、あふれるばかりの神の祝福をもたらすのです。 18ですから私たちは、いま見えるもの、すなわち身の回りの苦しみには目をとめません。むしろ、今は見えない天にある喜びを望み見ているのです。苦しみは、やがて消え去ります。しかし、その喜びは永遠に続くのです。
