Written by the American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr in the 1930s, this short prayer for serenity, courage and wisdom became one of the most widely prayed prayers of the twentieth century.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. Amen.
